How It Works
With the advent of cloud-based services like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, your business’s core communications and productivity systems are more convenient than ever, but also more exposed.
For many small organizations, working with an MSP like Codex Computer Services is a new experience.
Even as recently as 10 years ago, quite a few businesses only needed what’s called “break-fix” support. If your computer or email server stopped working, you could call someone to fix it. This was a good model for the days before cloud infrastructure and modern cyber threats.
Small organizations have become a major target for data ransomware, business email compromise, and other cyber-attacks. This is where the proactive efforts of a managed service provider add value and reduce risk. Our tools and services can help stop IT issues from cropping up in the first place, but perhaps more importantly, our approach means that the convenience of cloud services doesn’t have to compromise your security. You can rest easily knowing that we have measures in place to prevent, detect, and remediate threats against your organization.
FAQs
The best analogy we’ve found in describing what we do involves iPhones.
At the risk of oversimplifying things, a major reason the iPhone dominates the smartphone market is that it just… works: updates and backups happen automatically, you can trust that apps from the app store are safe to download, your phone locks and encrypts automatically. You almost never have to “troubleshoot” a problem on your iPhone.
None of that is happening by accident. Apple is always in the background, carefully managing and securing your device to ensure you can go about using it without any hassle. We do the same thing Apple is doing for your iPhone, but for small businesses. Email accounts, office networks, company laptops all just… work.
We work with businesses and organizations of all sizes, from small teams of 5-10 people working remotely, up to larger organizations and non-profits with hundreds of employees. The scope of the services can vary depending on the industry and size, but in general our goal is to either completely manage your IT environment or co-manage with internal IT staff. We can support virtually any industry, including law, healthcare, non-profits, real estate, and travel.
Unfortunately, in today’s landscape, it’s not. Threats and vulnerabilities are changing daily, even hourly, so the security of your organization requires dedicated services and personnel to match. Besides, if Greg from marketing is bogged down resetting passwords all the time, he’s costing your business in lost productivity.
It’s easy, we promise! First thing is discovery: we’ll take a complete inventory of your staff email accounts, desktop computers, laptops, network hardware, and any other IT equipment your business owns and operates. We also take inventory of all software and cloud services your team uses.
Onboarding everything with our support and security services is the next step. The timeframe depends on the size of the project, but our goal is to be as fast and minimally disruptive as possible. Once onboarding is finished, you’re off and running! We’re there when you need us.
The goal is zero downtime. We will work with you and your team to schedule all onboarding tasks for times when they won’t disrupt your work.
We price “per user” or per employee at your company. Some MSPs charge per computer and include additional fees for things like servers, company cell phones, etc. We find that it’s more economical (and simpler) for small businesses to pay per user.
We work on monthly service contracts with an annual commitment. This is to keep our monthly pricing reasonable and to emphasize our commitment to grow alongside your business.
Codex Cloud and Codex Complete customers can call or email us for help. Codex Complete customers also have access to an app that allows them to chat with our support team immediately. The app can also be used to easily submit support tickets that include screenshots of the problems that need to be addressed.
